"Uhuru na Umoja" — Freedom and Unity
These words form the national motto of Tanzania, and they perfectly capture the essence of what awaits you in this programme. Freedom is waking at dawn amidst the vast African landscapes, where the calls of wildlife and birds chirping replace the sounds of the city. Unity is the feeling of being embraced by the morning savannah, as though you are a part of this wild and beautiful world.
You will explore Ruaha National Park, one of East Africa’s most secluded regions, where lions stalk through tall grasses and herds of elephants traverse dry riverbeds. In Katavi, even more remote and untouched, you’ll witness hippos packed into backwaters and crocodiles lurking in caves, silently watching their prey.

Day 1. Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Today, you can relax after your journey or take some time to explore the city. Tomorrow, your adventure through wild Tanzania begins!
Day 2. Ruaha National Park
Wildlife in the Ruaha park in Tanzania
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Ruaha National Park — the largest national park in Tanzania, covering approximately 20,226 km². Upon arrival, an experienced guide will welcome you, and your first safari adventure will begin en route to the camp.
Ruaha remains relatively undiscovered by tourists, offering a more secluded and intimate safari experience, far from the usual tourist trails.
After exploring the park, you will check into a cosy lodge set along the banks of the Great Ruaha River. The lodge blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, constructed from natural materials to create a sense of complete immersion in nature.
In the evening, unwind by the fire as the sun sets in the background.
Day 3 — 4. Ruaha Wildlife
Ruaha is renowned for its rich and diverse natural environment. It is home to approximately 10% of Africa’s remaining lion population and the highest concentration of elephants in East Africa. The park also shelters rare and endangered species such as African wild dogs, cheetahs, and leopards.

More than 570 species of birds have been recorded in the park, including migratory species from Europe, Asia, Australia, and Madagascar. Ruaha is also noted for its varied landscapes, ranging from savannahs and forests to hills and rivers. The park lies in the transitional zone between the flora and fauna of Eastern and Southern Africa, making it a unique location for observing a wide range of animal and plant species.
You will have the opportunity to choose from the following safari options at the lodge:
Morning safari: Departure at 06:30, return at 11:30 (with picnic);
Safari after breakfast: Departure at 08:30, return in time for lunch;

Day 5. Katavi National Park
Hippos in Katavi National Park in Tanzania during the dry season when waterpools are scarce
In the early morning, you will fly to Katavi National Park, one of Tanzania's most remote and least-visited parks. Katavi is the third-largest national park in the country, covering an area of approximately 4,471 km².
Upon arrival, your guide will welcome you, and even on the journey to your camp, you’ll find yourself already on safari. Katavi is renowned for its vast savannahs, miombo woodlands, and seasonal lakes such as Lake Chada and Lake Katavi, which become vital habitats for wildlife during the dry season. It is home to large herds of buffalo, zebra, and giraffe, along with predators including lions, leopards, and hyenas.
After settling into a secluded safari camp located on the edge of the Katisunga Plain, you will embark on an evening game drive across the savannah, offering a unique opportunity to observe animals in their natural environment.
One of the greatest advantages of visiting Katavi is the near-total absence of other tourists, allowing you to experience the wilderness in its most authentic form.
By sunset, you will return to the camp.
Day 6 — 7. Safari in Katavi
These two days are devoted to an in-depth exploration of the Katavi ecosystem.
The safari begins in the early morning hours as the sun rises over the plains — the best time to observe wildlife activity. At dawn, herds of zebra and buffalo rush to the watering holes, while predators, including lions and hyenas, return from their night hunts.
Throughout the safari, you will be accompanied by expert guides with deep knowledge of animal behaviour, tracks, and the daily life of the savannah.
The daily rhythm in Katavi mirrors that of Ruaha: morning and evening safari drives, with the option of a full-day excursion including a picnic, or a tailored experience with a personal guide.
During the dry season, as the water sources shrink, life gathers intensely around them: hundreds of hippos crowd into the remaining pools, crocodiles retreat into caves and burrows, and eagles, marabou storks, and other birds soar overhead.

Evenings at camp are for relaxation: dinner beneath the star-studded sky, stories shared around the fire, and the ever-present sounds of nature continuing through the night. Katavi leaves you with a profound sense of connection to the wild heart of Africa.
Day 8. Farewell to Tanzania
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive through the reserve en route to the airstrip. You will then take a flight back to Dar es Salaam, where assistance will be provided for your transfer to an international flight or hotel accommodation, if required.
